MLB Draft 2013: The Baltimore Orioles select local catcher Alex Murphy in 6th round With their 6th round pick, the Baltimore Orioles decided to go local and selected a catcher named Alex Murphy from Calvert Hall. Murphy is listed as 6' and 205 pounds Ramon Urias Jersey. Murphy has signed a letter of intent to attend Wake Forest University and he was recently named the Gatorade Maryland Baseball Player of the Year. There isn't much info out there on Murphy, but Google tells me that when he was a freshman he won $1000 for sinking a basketball from half court. So, there's that?According to the Wake Forest webpage announcing that Murphy (and others) had signed letters of intent to attend, Murphy also plays 3B and outfield Cedric Mullins Jersey. Wake Forest coach Tom Walter says:Alex is the best pure bat in this class Mickey Jannis Jersey. He will hit third or fourth as a freshman and be an all-conference type hitter early in his career. Not only is he a good runner for his size, but he hits for power and average. Defensively, he can catch, play third base and kick out to the outfield if need be. Alex is the definition of "ballplayer." He is a gamer who comes to play every day.Oh, good. I was worried he wasn't the definition of a ballplayer.Watch Alex hit a grand slam:
