“Do not keep children to their studies by compulsion but by play.” -
Plato.
Children's yoga teacher training is all about ‘playing’ yoga.
By creating a safe supportive space, fun yoga classes and simple step by step lessons we can
nurture children’s creativity, their sense of themselves, their social skills and much much more.
The fun part, it starts with us, their teachers. In order to hold space for them, provide that
supportive learning space and know how to have fun in yoga we need to practise. On this course
you will learn yoga practices for you, play yoga games, have fun and learn to feel centred and
confident in yourself so you can be creative and share your yoga with your students.
The Importance of Children's Physical Development, Children's Behaviour and Children's Learning
Styles plays a pivotal role in equipping educators with the essential skills to foster a supportive and
engaging environment for young learners. Understanding children's physical development is
crucial, as their bodies grow and change rapidly; this enables teachers to tailor yoga poses and
activities that are age-appropriate and safe. Additionally, a comprehensive grasp of children's
behavior helps instructors manage diverse personalities and emotional needs, promoting a
positive classroom atmosphere. Moreover, recognizing various learning styles allows teachers to
implement diverse teaching methods, ensuring that each child can connect with the practice on a
personal level.
By integrating these elements into their training, children's yoga teachers can
create classes that not only enhance physical well-being but also nurture emotional resilience and
cognitive growth, ultimately fostering a lifelong appreciation for yoga and mindfulness.
What you will learn on the course.
On this course you will learn:
● Yoga asana, the poses
● How to centre yourself
● About your own personal alignment so you can model the poses well and make the most of
your yoga practice
● Pranayama (breath work) and meditations for you and your young learners
● Yoga games to play and have fun
● Teaching skills
● Daily practicalities of teaching yoga to children, including lesson planning, and
communicating with parents and teachers.
During this children's yoga teacher training, you will delve into a multifaceted curriculum
designed to equip you with the skills necessary to nurture young minds and bodies
through yoga practice.
We will explore foundational asanas (yoga postures) tailored to children, ensuring a
playful yet structured approach to physical postures.
We will learn simple, fun pranayama (breath-work) techniques that promote breath
awareness, enabling children to harness their energy and cultivate calm.
We will add engaging teaching methods to your toolkit along with games, songs, and
chants. All of these tools are integrated seamlessly into lessons to create a joyful
environment.
You will be given sample lesson plans to get you started and a lesson plan template to
create your own fun classes
Mindfulness practices and focus techniques are also included to enhance children's
concentration and self-awareness, while varied meditations and relaxation exercises
provide tools for emotional regulation and stress relief. This training not only deepens
teachers understanding of yoga's holistic benefits but also empowers them to foster
resilience and well-being in their students aged 3-13 years old.
